Shane Battier, a forward out of Duke, was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001 with the 6th overall pick in the draft. Battier, loved by fans for his hard-nosed, do-everything approach to the game, was equally loved by teammates for his unselfishness.

Battier was an integral part of the team that got the Grizzlies to their first-ever trip to the NBA Playoffs in 2004 (against the San Antonio Spurs).

Battier was traded to the Houston Rockets during the offseason heading into the 2006-07 NBA season. He was eventually traded back to Memphis, where he helped the Grizzlies notch their first-ever win in the playoffs.

Battier hit perhaps the biggest three-pointer in Memphis Grizzlies history

The shot came in Game 1 of the opening round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs against the San Antonio Spurs.

With less than 30 seconds remaining in the game and the Grizzlies trailing 96-98, Battier nailed the go-ahead three after receiving a bounce pass from Mike Conley to put the Grizzlies up one and clinched the first playoff win in franchise history.

Battier departed the Grizzlies once again, this time signing with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2011. Battier would go on to win championships with the Heat in 2012 and 2013.

Battier averaged 10.5 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game during his initial run with the Grizzlies. Battier averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds per game in 23 games with the Grizzlies during his second and final stint with the team in 2011.
