James Posey, a forward out of Xavier, was a journeyman NBA player making a stop in Memphis from 2003 to 2005. Posey played 28 minutes per game on average for the Grizzlies during his tenure, scoring 11.6 points per game and pulling down 4.7 rebounds per game.

Posey helped the Grizzlies claw their way into the playoffs in 2004, losing in the first round to the San Antonio Spurs 4 games to 0. He was with the team again in the 2005 playoffs, when the Grizzlies lost to the Phoenix Suns 4 games to 0.

James Posey scored a career-high 38 points during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta in March 2004

Posey’s time with the Memphis Grizzlies ended in the offseason heading into the 2005-2006 season when he was traded to the Miami Heat.

Posey landed in a great spot, however. Posey was an important piece in the Miami Heat winning the 2006 NBA Championship over the Dallas Mavericks.

As a free agent, Posey took his championship experience to the Boston Celtics, signing on to help Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo win a championship.

Posey would end his career in 2011 with two NBA championships.
