Memphis Grizzlies: 7 former players who are NBA Champions
Pau Gasol, a forward/center out of Spain, was acquired by the Grizzlies on draft day in 2001 from the Atlanta Hawks. What is there left to say that hasn’t already been said about the greatest player to ever wear a Grizzlies uniform?
Pau Gasol is the most decorated and accomplished player to ever wear a Memphis Grizzlies jersey.
The future NBA Hall of Famer played in Memphis for the first seven seasons of his career, averaging 18.8 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, and 3.1 assists per game.
The Grizzlies traded Pau to the Los Angeles Lakers in a 2008 mid-season trade. The Grizzlies were preparing to enter a rebuild and did not want to waste the prime years of Pau’s career. Pau joined Kobe Bryant to help the Lakers win back-to-back NBA Championships in 2009 and 2010.
