Right now, the Memphis Grizzlies find themselves in a unique spot. After a handful of trades to keep the offseason interesting, the Grizz now have 18 rostered players — three over the league’s maximum of 15.

It’s unclear what Memphis plans to do to remedy this situation but one thing is clear — they need to get a few players off of the books before the start of the season. This shouldn’t be difficult, as there are a handful of guys who were brought over in trade packages by the Grizzlies simply to get a deal done. The Grizz never had plans to play these guys.

Here’s what that list looks like.

  • Sam Merrill
  • Rajon Rondo
  • Daniel Oturu
  • Juancho Hernangomez

There is also a small list of players who have been brought up in trade rumors revolving around the Memphis Grizzlies. Here’s that list.

  • Tyus Jones
  • Kyle Anderson
  • Dillon Brooks

Nobody outside of Ja Morant feels truly safe during this Memphis Grizzlies offseason

The truth of the matter is simple — the Grizzlies have proven that almost nobody is safe during this offseason. After trading away Jonas Valanciunas and reportedly allowing Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks to be available “for the right price,” it seems like anything could happen. Heck, even Jaren Jackson Jr.’s name has been brought up in trade rumors, though those seem to have faded away.

Still, it seems even more unlikely that the Grizzlies will be trading away one of their high-profile players, especially considering the fact that they’re trying to cut the fat off of this team. This leads me to my main point today.

The Grizzlies will likely be trading in exchange for future draft picks. Today, I’m going over a few teams that the Grizzlies could trade with in order to trim their roster.
