Memphis Grizzlies Trade Candidate No. 1: Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers seem like an obvious candidate for the Memphis Grizzlies to partner up with in a trade. The LeBron James-led team in Los Angeles will be shooting for another NBA Championship and anything short of that will be a disappointment.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they’ll be paying out a combined $120 million between Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis next season. A deal with Memphis would not be easy on the checkbook, but it’s something that would benefit both sides.

Still, as of right now, there’s no reason to believe that the Los Angeles Lakers could formulate any kind of deal. They do not have a trade exception that would allow them the cap space to take on Kyle Anderson’s contract and to be honest, I’m not sure how they’re going to form the remainder of their team around Westbrook, Davis, and James.

The Lakers should, however, be a team that the Grizzlies consider trading with later in the year. They may not be winning as much as they expected and may choose to look for an impactful veteran to serve as a sixth man. Anderson could be that guy.

Consider the Lakers a future team for the Grizzlies to formulate a trade with.
