3 trades that send Ben Simmons to the Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies could help Sacramento part ways with one of their disgruntled stars.
A three-team trade option that would help all teams involved sees the Sacramento Kings move on from Buddy Hield, and the 76ers making a strong push into the playoffs.
The 76ers would get two starters in Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson, plus future draft compensation. They could take a flier on Sam Merrill, who could come in and knock down a three during certain game situations.
The Sacramento Kings finally find a partner to take on Hield. In exchange, they get Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke– two playoff-tested young veterans that would help the Kings work their way into a play-in game or playoffs. Clarke could compete and become a starter for the Kings if they want to play small. Brooks would set the tone for a very young and inexperienced Kings team.
The Grizzlies would be able to keep some of their young players in this scenario (such as Desmond Bane and Ziaire Williams) but could be pressured to include them in this deal.
The Kings could have a very attractive lineup if a deal like this goes through:
- De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Halliburton, Dillon Brooks, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes
Brandon Clarke could push Barnes and Holmes for a starting position or make them expendable in another trade.
As we get closer to the season and the NBA trade deadline, teams may become more desperate and willing to facilitate a deal. Teams around the league will continue to watch the Ben Simmons situation very carefully.
