Generally speaking, the dust has settled for the Memphis Grizzlies. Actually, with a roster that is spilling over with players, the Grizzlies still have more than a few moves on the horizon. Let’s call it the eye of the hurricane — they’ve been extremely quiet after a hectic stretch and we know that there’s more to come.
Thus far in the offseason, the Grizzlies have made more than their fair share of trades. Here are the noteworthy roster changes thus far.
- Notable Additions: Steven Adams, Jarrett Culver, Ziaire Williams, Rajon Rondo
- Notable Subtractions: Jonas Valanciunas, Grayson Allen, Patrick Beverley
If you’re just now getting caught up — it’s been a very busy offseason. The Grizzlies seem to continue to one-up themselves when it comes to surprising, blind-siding deals that send their fans into a spiral for a day.
Two Memphis Grizzlies starters have been involved in more recent trade rumors
Because of the hectic nature of the Grizzlies’ offseason thus far, Memphis fans shouldn’t be too surprised that two of their most important players, Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson, have been involved in trade rumors. For Anderson, this is nothing new — the real surprise here is when it comes to Dillon Brooks.
For a while, most fans likely considered Brooks one of the very few untouchable players on this team. In fact, after Jonas Valanciunas was shipped off, it seemed like only three players were completely safe: Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr.
This week, a rumor surfaced that directly contradicted that belief.
Reportedly, Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson were available “for the right price.” This rumor hasn’t been fully substantiated by anybody within the Grizzlies’ organization and a Ja Morant tweet may have just proven it wrong.

Did Ja Morant’s tweet just prove that Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks aren’t on the trade block?
Let’s be honest for a second here — Ja Morant’s tweets are never the easiest thing to interpret. The Grizzlies’ franchise point guard has a tendency to do something that many NBA players love to do — write cryptic tweets. Still, this one seems to have a certain level of confidence in it.
If you for some reason cannot see the tweet, Ja Morant replied to TheNBACentral’s announcement of this trade rumor by saying “stop it” following by a pair of laughing emojis and a bear emoji — or a Grizzly, depending on how specific you want to get.
In every way, this seems to shatter a rumor that didn’t have very strong legs in the first place. Ja Morant likely has more inside knowledge than most, though players are often left in the dark on certain deals, even if they’re the star of the team. That’s right — there’s a possibility that the rumors are true.
Still, the Grizzlies have to make at least one more move to trim their roster down to the 15-player league maximum. A deal is imminent, and without any hard evidence, it’s hard to conclude whether or not Brooks and Anderson actually are on the trade block.
