The first scenario is one that will make Memphis Grizzlies fans grimace if it becomes a reality

If Kyle Anderson and/or Dillon Brooks are traded or become injured, Ziaire Williams could be called upon to enter the starting lineup. Hopefully, the basketball gods won’t allow anyone to become injured, but it happens each and every season in the NBA.

The Memphis Grizzlies, along with most of the teams around the league, have yet to finalize rosters, but many outlets are already circulating depth charts for NBA teams. Outlets like CBS Sports and Hoops Hype have Williams as the backup shooting guard or backup small forward entering training camp for next season.

If one of these starters is out due to injury, then it will likely come down to Desmond Bane (listed at 6’5”) and Williams (listed at 6’9”).

Coach Taylor Jenkins may want to opt for the size and athleticism of Williams and keep Bane as a spark off the bench in this hypothetical scenario.

It’s difficult to say how trading Anderson and/or Brooks would affect the starting lineup without knowing what the Memphis Grizzlies would receive in any trade. But, they are two players worth keeping an eye on.

Anderson and Brooks have been subject to trade rumors after a report from Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer stated the two players could be had “at the right price.”

Assuming the deal involves draft picks and/or expiring contracts, it’s logical to believe the Memphis Grizzlies would consider starting Ziaire Williams.
