The Memphis Grizzlies are still constructing their roster not just for next season, but a roster for the long-term as well. It’s the roster that the franchise will hopefully use to one day make a serious run at an NBA title.

It’s believed that the front office is attempting to create enough salary-cap room and accumulate enough future draft picks to make a move for an All-NBA-level talent within the next one to two seasons.

This could be done through free agency or via trade, with trade being the most likely scenario for obtaining a marquee talent. If history tells us anything, it’s that Memphis has not been a destination for marquee free agents like Los Angeles, Miami, or New York.

The Memphis Grizzlies will have to jockey to find themselves in a position to acquire a star

It may take a few small-to-medium-sized trades to help the Memphis Grizzlies be in perfect position to acquire such a talented star.

The front office should think long and hard before parting with any of the following three assets. The only time the front office should agree to part with these assets is if it’s for that major, marquee talent.

For this exercise, we are not considering Ja Morant to be one of the listed assets because he is as untouchable as untouchable assets are for an NBA team.
