The Memphis Grizzlies could face stiff competition from the Kings in the race to the play-in tournament next season

The Sacramento Kings have not won more than 33 games since the 2007-2008 season, but for the first time in a long time, the franchise seems like it has taken a progressive step forward.

The Kings have drafted some terrific and exciting players in recent years, namely De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and Davion Mitchell.  They have some continuity with returning Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III, and Richaun Holmes. That’s a pretty solid core of young players to build a competitive team around.

Additionally, the team has a few veterans to help fill holes with Harrison Barnes, Alex Len, and Tristan Thompson providing leadership on this hungry and unproven Kings squad.

It remains to be seen if Luke Walton is the head coach that can get Sacramento back to the playoffs or if Buddy Hield can be the consistent scoring threat this team needs.

A side-story to watch will be between Fox and Ja Morant. Will either one of these players make their first All-Star appearance next season?

The Memphis Grizzlies will be taking on the Kings three times next season: Nov. 28, Dec. 17, and Dec. 26.
