If I asked you to make a list that prioritizes the Memphis Grizzlies‘ future roster needs, you’d likely put together something like this.
- Ja Morant
- Jaren Jackson Jr.
- Dillon Brooks
- Ziaire Williams
- Desmond Bane
There’s a clear one and two with Morant and Jackson, while the third spot would likely be occupied by Brooks, who has established himself as one of the NBA’s feistiest players last season.
A player who generally is not thought of as a future asset, however, is Kyle Anderson, the soon-to-be 28-year-old versatile forward for the Memphis Grizzlies. Anderson is coming off of a career year for the Grizzlies and played a huge role in Jaren Jackson Jr.’s absence in getting Memphis back to the NBA Playoffs.
Memphis Grizzlies F Kyle Anderson is thought of as a player who will be traded
When you’re looking at the Memphis Grizzlies main rotation, there isn’t a player who seems like a more likely trade option than Kyle Anderson. The Grizzly forward is one of the older players on the team, is coming off of a contract season, and will see a shrinking role with JJJ’s return to the starting lineup.
Still, his value shouldn’t be undermined.
Anderson was key in the Grizzlies 2021 NBA Playoff appearance and without him, it’s easy to say that Memphis wouldn’t have seen as much success. No matter how you spin it, trading Slow-Mo would make the team worse.
Today, I’m going to give you three reasons why the Grizzlies should extend Kyle Anderson’s contract.
