If you had to choose a team that loses this deal, the Toronto Raptors would be the obvious choice

This would actually be a really solid deal for every team involved. It looks to be designed to benefit the Atlanta Hawks, though all three teams would get what they’re looking for. It’s such a great deal that if you had to choose a loser, it would likely be the Raptors, who still fare well in this one.

The Raptors would be giving up OG Anunoby, an extremely promising young player, and Chris Boucher. That’s it. For Toronto, however, this is a lot, and as a result, they receive quite a bit in exchange. They come out the other end of the deal with De’Andre Hunter, Onyeka Okongwu, Brandon Clarke, and a top-eight protected first-round pick.

After a huge season that made Anunoby look like he was on the brink of NBA stardom, the Raptors won’t be happy to part ways with him. That said, in a deal where Brandon Clarke is an afterthought, they’ll be happy with what they receive in return. Clarke showed that he can be a starting-caliber player on the Memphis Grizzlies last season.

Okongwu is a promising young player entering his second NBA season, while De’Andre Hunter is the headliner of this deal. Hunter averaged 15 points per game last season with solid shooting splits and looked like he could develop into a really good NBA player. The Raptors wouldn’t be getting the instant satisfaction that Anunoby gives them, but they’re getting a solid player and a pair of promising young guys in this deal.
