Grizzlies: This potential trade with the Hawks could create two superteams
The Memphis Grizzlies have given no indication that they’d be willing to part ways with Dillon Brooks
On paper, it’s easy to imagine Dillon Brooks as a trade piece for the Memphis Grizzlies. Grizz fans, however, will tell you that his value goes well beyond his numbers on the stat sheet. Still, this is an intriguing deal for Memphis.
The Grizzlies would be giving up two players in Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke. In exchange, they’re receiving a large package of players in Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish, and Chris Boucher. To go along with these players, Memphis would also receive a 2025 top-ten protected first-round pick.
When it comes to trade hypotheticals involving Dillon Brooks, I have to be honest — this is the best one I’ve seen.
Sure, it’s not the most appealing-looking deal on the surface, but the more you think about this one, the more it starts to make sense. For starters, this deal wouldn’t be the final deal of the Grizzlies offseason. They would once again be moving in the wrong direction in terms of rostered players and would have to make another trade to even things out.
Both Huerter and Reddish averaged over 11 points per game last season. The Grizzlies would never get back the defensive production that they’d be losing with Brooks, but they still stand to benefit here. Huerter could fill into the open slot that Grayson Allen left behind, while Reddish, as young as he is, would serve as a great mentor for Ziaire Williams.
The logjam grows, but so do the possibilities.
This, as previously mentioned, would also leave the door open for the Memphis Grizzlies to make a future trade. Heck, they’d have enough assets to make a deal for a superstar this offseason.
Maybe we’re so far into the offseason that I’ve become completely delusional, but I like this deal for everybody involved.
