One of the biggest stories around NBA Media Day 2021 (and for the Memphis Grizzlies) has been the subject of vaccination status.

Players like Ja Morant and Desmond Bane all revealed their vaccination status to reporters, stressing the importance of getting the jab. Morant also made some headlines for an interview he gave with Bleacher Report, which is mentioned in takeaway number one of this post.

Here are five takeaways from an exciting 2021 Memphis Grizzlies Media Day.

No. 5: The Memphis Grizzlies are working towards 100% vaccination for the team

Members of the media all seemed to ask the most prominent members of the team their vaccination status. Based on the answers, we have a general idea of who is vaccinated and who is not.

Grizzlies General Manager Zach Kleiman said the team is working towards it’s goal of having 100% of the team fully vaccinated.

Kyle Anderson, Steven Adams, Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson, Jr. all announced they were fully vaccinated. Bane gave a compelling answer when he was at the podium.

“Whatever happens down the road,” Bane said of choosing to get vaccinated. “I’ll be fine knowing that I was one of those people that was at least trying to save the other people,” according to Evan Barnes of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

De’Anthony Melton acknowledged that he’s in the process of becoming fully vaccinated. He’s got the first shot and has plans to get the second.

Dillon Brooks did not give a yes or a no as to whether or not he’s vaccinated, but said “to each their own.” He did admit that getting the shot would make life easier on the player and their Grizzlies teammates, according to Cassie Carlson of WMC-5 News.
