The Memphis Grizzlies are currently knee-deep in training camp. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll learn a lot about a team that underwent rapid turnover this offseason, mostly due to the six trades that Zach Kleiman and his front office executed.
But among the madness, most of the squad’s key players remain on the roster. That includes guys like Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, and Jaren Jackson Jr., among others.
And the first of those names could have his best season yet in 2021-22. Here are three bold predictions for Ja Morant in 2021-22.
Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant, Bold Prediction No. 1: Morant will shoot 35% or better from the three-point line
One of the more under-told stories of this offseason has been in relation to Ja Morant’s three-point shooting last season. When I say under-told, I mean under-told by everybody other than me — I’ve been rambling about how much Ja Morant’s three-point shooting will improve for months.
That said, I don’t think anybody expects this kind of leap, especially those who didn’t watch every Memphis Grizzlies basketball game of the season. If you want a deeper dive into this, take a look at this article from last week, detailing why Morant has plenty of momentum when it comes to his long-range shooting.
In short, his numbers from year to year would imply that he regressed as a shooter. The deeper numbers tell a different story though, with Morant shooting better than he has in the entirety of his NBA career by the end of the 2020-21 season.
