Memphis Grizzlies Top Performer T-No. 3: Desmond Bane/De’Anthony Melton

It may upset some to see that I’ve split this slide between two players. I’m truly sorry for that, but “four top performers” just doesn’t sound as catchy. It’s one of the perks of being the Site Expert — I get to make up my own rules.

Bane and Melton each had similar games. Melton was the better shooter on the night, scoring 20 points on 4-6 from three-point range, including three consecutive deep-range shots in the second quarter that gave the Grizzlies a ton of momentum. He was on display at the team’s spark plug, as usual.

Bane, on the other hand, only shot 2-6 from three-point range, but had a bigger impact defensively, where he recorded two steals on the night. The second-year Grizzly guard stepped into a starting role and looked every bit the part.

Even though Bane’s 2-6 shooting looks unimpressive, both of these guys looked like the best shooters on the team. With two knockdown shooting guards who can step up when needed, this team is in good hands in terms of scoring.

Each of them shot at least 50% overall, scoring down low often, which proved that they’re more than just catch-and-shoot players.
