Stat No. 1: The Memphis Grizzlies shot the ball extremely well from beyond the arch

One of the worrisome areas on this team heading into the 2021 season was its ability to shoot the three-point shot well. Last year, Memphis finished in the bottom half of the league in both three-point shots made and three-point percentage. They knocked down 36.7% of their long-range attempts and made 12.9 of them per contest.

In the Grizzlies’ first contest, they got ahead of their statistics from last year, draining 42.4% of their deep shots, which translated to 14 made attempts on the night.

The most notable deep-range deadeye shooter on the night was De’Anthony Melton, who knocked down four of his six long-range attempts. Fans will find it hard to forget his early second quarter three-point barrage, where he knocked down three in a row.

Other notable three-point shooters include Jaren Jackson Jr., who knocked down three on the night, Kyle Anderson, who knocked down two, and Ja Morant, who hit a clutch shot from beyond the arch.

Perhaps the most notable three-point shot on the night, however, came from rookie Ziaire Williams, who made his first and only three-point attempt of the season thus far. This is notable because Williams’ long-range shooting was a big worry in the NBA Draft. So far, he’s off to a good start.
