Contributor Score Predictions: Grizzlies vs. Nuggets rematch
The Memphis Grizzlies will take on the Denver Nuggets in the second matchup between these two teams on the year. In the first, Memphis took home the victory, knocking off Denver in a low-scoring game that finished at 106-97.
Ja Morant had one of his slower games of the year with 26 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. That’s not a joke, either — the Grizzly point guard has had an incredible season thus far, averaging new career-highs in points, assists, and rebounds.
These teams will face off again at 8:00 PM EST at FedEx Forum.
Can the Memphis Grizzlies win two in a row against the Denver Nuggets? Our contributors weigh in.
Jack Williams (Site Expert): Memphis beat the Nuggets in an uncharacteristically low-scoring game last time out. The Grizzlies, despite being one of the worst statistical defensive teams in the country, held the Nugs to 97 points. I doubt they’ll do it again, but without Jamal Murray, Denver’s offense is clearly crippled. I don’t see the Nuggets doing much more this time around, while I think Memphis will bounce back from a below-average offensive game.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 118, Denver Nuggets 103
Will Jones: The Grizzlies finally got some bench production on Monday that led to defeating the Nuggets. I think everyone is getting more comfortable with their new roles. Similar to the playoffs, I would expect that after a loss the Nuggets got a lot more from the film than the Grizz did after a win. The Nuggets and the Joker aren’t going to lose two in a row easily but they don’t have an answer for Ja. Expect a few big plays down the stretch to win a close one and start November strong.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 111, Denver Nuggets 106
Jacob Ellerbee: The Grizzlies bounced back nicely against the Denver Nuggets after the thumping they got from Miami last Saturday. In this rematch, the Nuggets will probably shoot better than the 23.7% they did in the first meeting. I’ll expect Denver to shoot better and make the necessary adjustments.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 108, Denver Nuggets 117
*Thomas Welch: The Grizzlies got a nice win over the Nuggets on Monday behind another great performance from Ja, and look to go back-to-back on Denver on Wednesday. JJJ and Bane looked decent as well, and the bench made a good contribution to the point tally. If the team effort continues and they improve their offensive rebounding a little bit, the Grizz should repeat Monday’s results with ease.
Final Score: Memphis Grizzlies 110, Denver Nuggets 97
*It’s worth noting that Thomas’s initial prediction was, and I quote, “bear eat nugget.”
