Memphis Grizzlies Duo: Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

This one should be obvious.

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. were the start of this giant overhaul of a rebuild here in Memphis. They are the face of the “NXT GEN GRIZ” (which may be one of my favorite branding campaigns). I remember after Ja came to the Memphis team, he and Triple J (Jaren Jackson Jr.)  hit it off so well, not only as teammates but as friends.

I think what is going to show to be the defining keystone of the improved Memphis, is how well will these guys get along off-court. We have seen them have good chemistry on the court, but franchises have fallen over off-court issues. Luckily our two stars in Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. seem to be the best of friends. With Jaren Jackson Jr.’s 4 year-$105 million contract extension, it is obvious he is here to stay.

Ja Morant’s value is sky-rocketing with his All-Star caliber season this year. The biggest issue facing Memphis will be making sure Ja stays and continues to be the franchise player.

However, I think keeping Jaren Jackson Jr. around is a big part of this. Triple J has his on-court value, yes. His off-court value is going to be his relationship with Ja. If this franchise wants to finally pull itself up and win a championship, in my opinion, keeping this dynamic duo for the long haul is its obvious success point. We have another article on Ja and Jaren Jackson Jr.’s relationship.
