Memphis Grizzlies Duo: Steven Adams and everybody else

Okay, I will admit, this looks like a cop-out. Hear me out though. Steven Adams may be the most Grizzlies player to ever be a Grizzly. Don’t believe me? Think about Steven Adams. What comes to mind? Strong? One of the strongest in the league. Tough? Absolutely. Stache Bro Legendary. Grizzled? Definitely. Looks like your wife’s favorite Actor? Very much so.

Stephen Adams has built his career on being a tough defender that is willing to do what he has to, to make sure his team wins. That is the heart of the Grizzly. That is the kind of motivation and attitude for the game is something that would make Zach Randolph and Tony Allen proud.

How does this translate to his relationship with the team though? Steven Adams is the pure definition of a glue guy. He comes into the game, doing the things the team needs to be done but doesn’t necessarily want to do. Selflessness is an extraordinary quality of Adams. Steven Adams doesn’t need as many post-up scoring opportunities, or any for that matter, and he is okay with that. Adams would much rather get rebounds and dish the ball.

When you have a player like that on your team, it is hard not to like him. Adams will adapt his play to the personnel on the floor. He may player higher up in the key during some line-ups to move the ball and set on ball screens, and in another line-up, he might wonder the paint looking to screen for back door cuts.

The amount of potential that will come with Steven Adams as a grizzly is unmatched. I, for one, can not wait to continue to see his chemistry with the team blossom.
