Takeaway No. 2: The Memphis Grizzlies may actually benefit from Dillon Brooks’ shooting

This slide may be completely unexpected and I’m not sure I can even rationalize this fully to myself. That said, this made sense to me when I was watching the game and I’m sticking with it.

The idea is that Dillon Brooks might actually help this team as a shooter.

Brooks’ 35% career three-point shooting will not have your jaw on the floor; neither will his below-average shot selection. That said, Brooks’ shooting does possess a quality that not every player’s shooting does. It doesn’t halt when he’s having an off-night.

The Memphis Grizzlies had a rough night shooting the basketball. Even with a couple of garbage time buckets dropping, this Grizz team only knocked down nine of their 38 long-range attempts. Desmond Bane and De’Anthony Melton were both off.

Dillon Brooks was not. While the missed three-pointer bug seemed to spread to the entire roster, Brooks had a really solid night shooting the basketball, knocking down four of his seven three-point attempts.

Brooks’ ability to stay mentally strong and mature could go a long way for a team that can be extremely streaky.
