The Memphis Grizzlies (28-14) host the Golden State Warriors (30-9) in what will be a playoff-like atmosphere Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. CT inside FedEx Forum.

The more these two teams play each other, the more a rivalry seems to be brewing. It started with the Grizzlies upsetting the Warriors in a huge play-in game at the start of the 2021 postseason, eliminating Stephen Curry from making a run in the playoffs.

This year, they’ve split the season series so far, with Memphis winning the first meeting of the season 104-101 in OT Oct. 29 at the Chase Center and Golden State winning the second meeting 113-104 at home Dec. 24.

Here’s what you need to know about this exciting meeting between two of the top teams in the Western Conference so far this season.

Memphis Grizzlies injury report

  • Steven Adams – Questionable (Covid-19 protocols)
  • Yves Pones – Questionable (Ankle soreness, Covid-19 protocols)
  • Head Coach Taylor Jenkins – Questionable (Covid-19 protocols)
  • Dillon Brooks – Out (left ankle sprain)

Grizzlies starting line-up vs Golden State

With Brooks sidelined indefinitely with a gnarly left ankle sprain and Steven Adams out for Health & Safety Protocols, the starting line-up will likely look similar to the one they used against the Lakers Jan. 9.

Expect the starting five to be comprised of: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Ziaire Williams, Kyle Anderson and Jaren Jackson, Jr.

John Konchar could be a wild card to start instead of Williams, so keep an eye on that.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Jan. 11 prediction

The Grizzlies have the fortune of meeting Stephen Curry amid an uncharacteristically bad shooting streak for the former MVP. He’s averaging 17 points in his last three games and is 6 for 30 on three-point attempts during that span.

Memphis knows what Curry is capable of, having watched him drop 46 points and 8 made threes in their most recent meeting. The Grizzlies will have to account for Klay Thompson, who made his return to basketball after having not played and NBA game in nearly 1,000 days.

Ja Morant has been on an incredible run recently and the team’s confidence is at an all-time high. The Grizzlies have proven they can win no matter who’s playing or (perhaps more importantly) who’s unable to play.

Expect Morant to continue his excellent play and the Warriors to feel the wrath of the streaking Grizzlies. Ja will have to flirt with a triple double for the team to have a shot at winning the game. Bane will need to have a big night from behind the line to negate a possible three-point barrage by the always-dangerous Curry.

The Grizzlies will win their tenth consecutive game if they can unseat Curry, Thompson and the Warriors.

Prediction: Grizzlies 109, Warriors 107
