Grizzlies could swing for a homerun at the trade deadline

Memphis should be taking a hard look at bringing in 29-year-old Tobias Harris to join the Grizzlies. He would fill a variety of needs.

Tobias Harris could be plugged in a starter and allow Jaren Jackson to play his natural position of center. The former Tennessee Volunteer would be a fan favorite and help shore up scoring when teams double Ja Morant.

I could even envision a scenario in which Harris is a 6th man and torches opposing team’s on offense. He could be a nice counter for the Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson— the reigning 6th Man of the Year if the Grizzlies meet the Jazz in the playoffs once again.

The trade would cost us Steven Adams, who suddenly seems expendable in his recent absence, plus the expiring contract of Kyle Anderson and a team-friendly De’Anthony Melton contract. Those contracts would allow the Grizzlies to absorb Harris’ massive $35.9 million per year contract.

The 6’7″ Harris is averaging 18.4, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season for the 76ers. He’s a career 36% shooter from three.
