Duds in Memphis Grizzlies win vs. Wizards

Foul trouble

Defensively the Grizzlies were active and everywhere on the court. They were uptight and not allowing the Wizards to get anything they wanted while on offense. However, such aggressive defense does lead to some mistakes leading to fouls.

Memphis committed 21 fouls sending the Wizards to the free-throw line 21 times. Washington was much more sound when it came to their hands to themselves, only fouling the Grizzlies 12 times sending them to the foul line 12 times.

Against a team like the Wizards, you can get away with a sum of fouls. But when going up against teams like the Phoenix Suns or the Chicago Bulls, they make you pay for sending them to the line. Taylor Jenkins and his coaching staff must’ve noticed the same thing so don’t be surprised to see the number of fouls given drop in their next game.

De’Anthony Melton

Now De’Anthony Melton had a good performance and wasn’t bad in the slightest. However, his efficiency from the field wasn’t the best.

Melton finished with a decent 13 points but did so on 5-18 shooting from the field which equals to 28 percent from the field. Melton is lucky the Grizzlies were just so dominant from the field, but being one of their most impactful contributors, he could’ve shot them out of this game.

He was still great and if De’Anthony Melton playing like how he did is what is considered a dud, that means that the team had a great game all around.
