Memphis Grizzlies Duds in loss vs Sixers

Ziaire Williams

The main problem with rookies is inconsistencies but that’s to be expected with the game of basketball. However, Williams’ play was not what the Grizzlies needed in such a close game.

His ability to space the floor is one of his greatest attributes but was scoreless from three-point territory going 0-6. He finished the game going just 3-10 for only eight points. He even had an opportunity to give the Grizzlies the lead in the final moments of overtime but was off the mark. Whether or not he got fouled is a discussion for another day.

Free-throw shooting

Memphis played nearly an identical if not better game than the Sixers. However, the one big difference was the Grizzlies’ struggles from the free-throw line.

As a team, Memphis shot a measly 68 percent from the charity stripe, going 19-28. In a game in which they lost by three points, all those missed free throws hurt more than ever. It was most glaring when Ja Morant had an opportunity to give the Grizzlies the lead within the final seconds of regulation with a free throw and was unable to convert.

If Memphis just made their free throws this game could easily have ended with a different outcome.
