Tyus Jones, Memphis Grizzlies trade
Tyus Jones, Memphis Grizzlies (Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports) /

There’s likely a long list of teams who will inquire about a Tyus Jones rental

You have to imagine just about every team in contention to compete in the playoffs this year will be calling Memphis to see if they can pry Tyus Jones away from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jones, like Kyle Anderson, is set to be a free agent in the off-season. There’s an argument to be made that Jones is too valuable to let walk and the team should fork over the cash to keep him here and provide relief minutes to supersar Ja Morant.

However, is that what Jones wants? He could very well have several offers to be a team’s starting point guard, especially with how well he served in Morant’s absence earlier in the season.

Jones leads the NBA in assist-to-turnover ration. He protects the ball, he knocks down three-point shots and can play good defense, despite his smaller size.

If Jones wants an opportunity to be a full-time starter, he may choose to walk away from Memphis and purse a new gig where he can lead an offense.

If the Grizzlies get that this is the case, the front office may choose to deal him before the trade deadline to get something in return for him before he walks away for nothing.
