Happy All-Star weekend! The Grizzlies are well-represented with Ja Morant when Team LeBron takes on Team Durant Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. EST, and luckily Memphis fans can profit from the festivities. WynnBET has Team LeBron as 5.5-point favorites and -225 on the moneyline (bet $22.50 to profit $10) while the over/under is set at 322 for this All-Star game.

This is how we’re betting the game:

NBA All-Star Game Prediction

Before we get into it, let’s make sure we understand the rules. The NBA is using the “Elam Ending” rules for the third straight year, meaning a team will need to reach a target score in the fourth quarter to win. That target score will be determined after three quarters and the first team to hit their target wins, period.

Team LeBron certainly has an advantage on paper. They’ve got the King himself, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Darius Garland, Chris Paul, Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell, Fred VanVleet and James Harden.

Kevin Durant won’t play while he rehabs an injury, so his team features Joel Embiid, Ja Morant, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, Andrew Wiggins, Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine, DeJounte Murray, Khris Middleton, LaMelo Ball and Rudy Gobert.

Yeah, LeBron may have learned a thing or two from all those years as a “shadow GM” because his team is stacked. When you’ve got Luka coming off the bench, you know you did something right.

The only way I see Team Durant sticking around in this one is if, well, the players treat this like the All-Star game it is and don’t care much. They’re in Cleveland, so the night-life probably won’t be too much of a factor, but this is still a meaningless exhibition in the midst of a long season. Does that make us degenerates for betting it? Probably. Are we still going to bet it? Certainly.

I think Team LeBron just has way too much talent for Team Durant to handle. With one of the best All-Star rosters ever assembled, I expect Team LeBron to have built such a lead by the fourth quarter that they’ll cover despite the strange rules.

I’m taking Team LeBron -5.5 (-110) in this one, but I’m also taking the under 322 (-110). I know what you’re thinking. The under!? In an All-Star game!? Yes, and it’s because of these rules. Both of the last two games went under the total thanks to a low-scoring fourth quarter.

Last year, only 49 points were scored in the final period after an average of over 90 in the first three. The year before, only 53 points were scored in the fourth after an average of over 85 were scored in the first three. That means a live under is in play here as well and I’d be watching the live odds in case you can snipe a high number early on.

Let’s enjoy the party and buckets, just not too many of them.
