The 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend has come and gone and for the first time in a long time, the Memphis Grizzlies were well represented during all three nights of action.
Ja Morant and Desmond Bane participated in a few events, did countless interviews and represented the team and the city with aplomb.
Despite all of the antics, pageantry and media obligations from the weekend, Morant’s mind was locked-in for what happens after the All-Star Game: the final stretch of the regular season before the playoffs.
“I wasn’t trying to do too much . Saving my energy for the second half of the season,” he was quoted by the Memphis Commercial Appeal’s Damichael Cole.
Here are the key moments from an exciting and eventful 2022 All-Star Weekend.
5. Desmond Bane shined in the 3 Point Contest
Desmond Bane had the tall task of being the first competitor to shoot in the 3 Point Contest. He struggled under the circumstances and finished with 18 points. It wasn’t the fewest points accumulated (that honor went to Chicago’s Zach LaVine), which was 14 points.
Still, it was awesome to see the Memphis Grizzlies represented on the big stage against some of the best shooters in the NBA this season.
It would have been nice to see Bane make the cut to be in the championship round, but perhaps next time. Bane is already eyeing a return to the event in the future and he plans to win, according to Grind City Media’s Kelsey Wright Johnson.
