The Memphis Grizzlies have been playing out of their minds this season, surpassing all expectations along the way.

The team is playing so well that they have a chance, albeit slim, to break the long-standing franchise record for most wins in a single season.

The Memphis Grizzlies record for most wins in a single season is currently 56, which was earned during the 2012-13 season.

That season, Marc Gasol won NBA Defensive Player of the Year and the team made it to the Western Conference Finals, ultimately succumbing to the Spurs 4-0.

The 2021-22 Memphis Grizzlies may break the record for most wins in a season

Ja Morant and the rest of the squad currently boast a record of 45-22, with 15 games remaining before the team takes on the New York Knicks March 11.

It’ll be extremely difficult, but this year’s squad has a slight chance to get pretty darn close or even break the record.

If the Grizzlies can finish the rest of the regular season by going 11-4, they will tie the record for most wins in a single season.

If the team goes 12-3 or better, they will break the record and set a new franchise record for most wins in a single season.

Memphis has already gone on an 11-game winning streak once this season, winning every game from Dec. 26 through Jan. 13. Going on another streak is definitely in the team’s wheelhouse, but there are a few games remaining on the schedule that will be really tough to win.

The Grizzlies still have home games against Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Golden State, Phoenix and Boston remaining on the docket. The team will also have a tough time against Utah and Denver on the road.

Even if the team doesn’t break the record, they will have a good chance of eclipsing 50 wins this season, something that hasn’t been seen on Beale Street since 2014-15 season.

If Memphis finishes the season 6-9 or better the rest of the way, at minimum they’ll finish with the third-most wins in franchise history (51).
