One team already eyeing Dillon Brooks in the offseason?
Why the Memphis Grizzlies wouldn’t trade Dillon Brooks to Boston
There’s no doubt about it: Dillon Brooks is the heart and soul of this team. He’s the fiery, passionate vocal player that sets the tone each night. He usually guards the opposing team’s best player. He’s a great second scoring option whenever Jackson or Bane are having an off-night.
Brooks has massive value for this team, especially in the playoffs. The team may not want to part with such an important piece that they may need in order to advance deep into the playoffs.
If the Grizzlies are able to re-sign Tyus Jones, there would be no need for another ball dominant guard like Smart or White, likely ending talks unless the Celtics would include Jaylen Brown in some capacity. At that point your talking about several players and several picks exchanging hands and you have a full-blown blockbuster on your hands.
Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman has said many times over that he’s not going to make short term deals at the expense of the team’s future.
The Grizzlies don’t have to move Brooks. He’s under contract next season, but if they get the sense they won’t be able to afford him or things don’t click back in to place during the last few weeks of the season, then we might have a different conversation.
All signs point to Brooks being a key component to the team’s success.
