Best March Madness performance from every current Memphis Grizzlies player
No 9. Killian Tillie, Gonzaga
When: March 21, 2021
Game: Round 1, Gonzaga vs Farleigh Dickinson
Grizzlies reserve big man Killian Tillie got a lot of minutes off the bench in the first round of the tournament. His No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs were up big over No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson, opening up an opportunity for Tillie to play 18 minutes in the game.
When it was all said and done, the French product recorded an efficient 17 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal in the 87-49 win. Tillie, along with his college teammate and current teammate on the Grizzlies Brandon Clarke, eventually lost to future Grizzlies player Jarrett Culver and Texas Tech in the Elite 8 round.
Tillie went undrafted, but the Grizzlies signed him to a two-way deal to play with the Memphis Hustle during his rookie campaign.
No 8. Steven Adams, Pittsburgh
When: March 21, 2013
Game: Round 2, Pittsburgh vs Wichita State
The Grizzlies big man had a solid game for the No. 8 Pittsburgh Panthers back in 2013. The New Zealander led his team with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the 73-55 blow-out loss to the No. 9 Wichita State Shockers.
Adams was a key contributor for his team all season long, but found an opportunity to make it to the NBA, so he declared for the draft shortly after the loss. This was Steven Adams’ final game as a Panther.
He went on to become the No. 12 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
No 7. Kyle Anderson, UCLA
When: March 27, 2014
Game: Sweet 16, UCLA vs Florida
Slo-Mo had himself a signature game in No. 4 UCLA’s 68-79 loss to No. 1 Florida in the Sweet 16 round of March Madness.
Kyle Anderson recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assist and 2 steals in his final game as a UCLA Bruin.
Anderson would eventually go on to be the No. 30 overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
