No 3. Brandon Clarke, Gonzaga

When: March 23, 2019
Game: Round 2, Gonzaga vs Baylor

Grizzlies back-up forward Brandon Clarke didn’t just have one of his personal best games when No. 1 Gonzaga defeated No. 9 Baylor 83-71— he had one of the best games of the entire March Madness tournament in 2019.

Clarke had an insane stat line 36 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals. He has a case for having the best March Madness game of any current Memphis Grizzlies player.

Clarke was the No. 21 overall pick in the 2019 draft and continues to be an incredibly efficient basketball player.

No 2. Tyus Jones, Duke

When: April 6, 2015
Game: National Championship vs Wisconsin

Grizzlies back-up point guard Tyus Jones is the only player on the Memphis Grizzlies to win a National Championship in college.

He had an outstanding performance in No. 1 Duke’s 68-63 win over No. 1 Wisconsin for the chip. Jones connected on a huge three pointer and two key free-throws to put the game out of reach in the final 90 seconds of the game.

Jones had a game-high 23 points and 5 assists in guiding a stacked squad that included eventual NBA players Justice Winslow, Jahlil Okafor, Quinn Cook and Grayson Allen.

Jones was the No. 24 overall pick in the 2015 draft.

No 1. Ja Morant, Murray State

When: March 21, 2019
Game: Round 1, Murray State vs Marquette

Every NBA star has their origin story and this was Ja Morant’s. He had a breathtaking performance on a national stage that put him firmly on the map of NBA scouts.

Morant and his No 12. Murray State defeated No. 5 Marquette in a 83-64 blowout. But, it was the South Carolina-native’s individual stats and highlight dunks that were so captivating.

Ja Morant recorded a rare March Madness triple double, finishing with 17 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds. His triple-double feat has only happened only eight other times in March Madness tournament history, making it that much more special.

This became the first of many, many times that Ja Morant’s name would be on the tip of every basketball fan’s tongue.

Ja Morant went on to rocket into NBA stardom as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and a legend was born.
