The Memphis Grizzlies (48-23) hit the road to face the Houston Rockets (17-53) March 20 in a matinee game that will tip-off shortly after 2:30 p.m. CT.
The Grizzlies are coming off of a 120-105 loss at Atlanta Friday night— a game in which All-Star Trae Young did not play, only amplifying the misery of the team’s loss.
Ja Morant appeared to exit the game a few minutes early and was seen heading to the locker room and did not return to the court.
What is Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant’s injury status?
It’s late in the regular season and Ja Morant is pretty banged-up. The arduous 82-game season is taking a toll on a guy that plays extremely physical and seeks out getting to the basket by challenging team’s post players.
Morant was questionable leading into the game at Atlanta with back soreness. He was able to compete in the game. However, he now appears to have tweaked his right knee during the final minutes of the game.
Ja Morant has officially been ruled out for the March 20 contest at Houston.
You can expect on of the most efficient players in the entire NBA, Tyus Jones, to start in his place. Jones, in his seventh season out of Duke, is averaging a career-high 8.1 ppg to go along with career-low 0.6 turnovers per game.
It’s unknown how long Morant will be out of action. After the game against the Rockets, Memphis will be at home on March 23 against the Brooklyn Nets in what will be a huge game set to be broadcast live on ESPN beginning at 6:30 p.m. central time.
