5 things we learned from decisive win over Golden State Warriors
No 2. We got an appearance from testy Taylor
Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Taylor Jenkins, normally reserved and tactful, got a bit aggressive during a few moments against the Warriors.
The normally tactful Taylor Jenkins got started early when he challenged a call in the opening minutes of the game— a call in which he won the challenge. It was to rescind a third foul on Dillon Brooks.
Later in the game, Jenkins became animated and nearly got a technical foul when Golden State’s Nemanja Bjelica fouled Dillon Brooks unusually hard. Jenkins demanded the officials look at it for a flagrant foul. They eventually did and Bjelica was accessed a Flagrant-1.
No 1. The Grizzlies demonstrated their bench is their secret weapon
The Grizzlies are firmly entrenched in second place in the Western Conference playoff race. They own a five-game lead over third-place Golden State after the win March 28.
The chasm that exists between the two teams lies in the team’s benches. Yes, the Warriors were missing their three best players, but Memphis was missing two of their best players.
This was a game to see who’s bench was better and it was undoubtedly the bench of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies outscored the Warriors’ bench by a margin of 52 to 41.
When at full strength, these two teams are going to have an epic clash if the meet in the playoffs next month.
