Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has not suited up for the team since sustaining an injury during the March 18 game vs the Atlanta Hawks.

Fans have been waiting patiently for the 2022 All-Star to return to the lineup to get some reps in before switching over to playoff mode.

With just two regular-season games remaining, time is running out to get Morant back in the lineup and the starters to get some valuable minutes together.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant could return April 9 vs Pelicans

Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting a conversation had with Grizzlies Head Coach Taylor Jenkins prior to the April 7 game at Denver.

Jenkins said “there’s a chance” Morant will play in one of the final two games. That would put Ja Morant’s return from injury on April 9 vs New Orleans or April 10 vs Boston.

Having Morant play in one of the two final games would give the team some much-needed minutes together.

It’s hard to believe, but the starting lineup of Morant, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Steven Adams have only played a combined 96 minutes together this season.

The Grizzlies have played really well without Ja Morant, recording a record of 20-4 without him in the lineup this season.

Morant has had a spectacular season despite sustaining a couple of injuries during the season. He’s averaged 27.6 ppg, 6.7 apg, and 5.7 rpg throughout the 2021-22 season.

Memphis has clinched the No. 2 seed in the West for the playoffs, which will begin April 16 against either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Los Angeles Clippers.

If the Memphis Grizzlies are able to win both of their final regular-season games this weekend, the team will set a new franchise record for most wins in a single regular season.
