Memphis Grizzlies, Ja Morant finish season near top of NBA merch sales
The Memphis Grizzlies took the NBA by storm during the 2021-22 NBA regular season, producing highlight reels at such a rapid pace they became impossible to ignore.
These Grizzlies have become darlings of subscribers to NBA League Pass, Sportscenter Top-10 lists, and the talk of NBA Twitter on a game-by-game basis.
This team knows how good they are and they let their opponents know about it, turning into a team known for their trash talk and trolling of their opponents.
So, it comes as no surprise that this team, and Ja Morant, have finished with some of the best-selling jerseys in the NBA this season.
Memphis Grizzlies and Ja Morant appear in top-ranked NBA jersey sales
Electrifying superstar Ja Morant, in his third season in the NBA, finished with the ninth-best selling jersey from the second half of the regular season, according to NBA Communications.
As a team, the Memphis Grizzlies finished with the tenth-most sold merchandise of any team in the entire NBA.
That’s probably the most impressive statistic of them all because Memphis is ranked No. 40 out 42 in market size of cities that have at least one NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL team, according to Sports Media Watch.
Only Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Buffalo, New York are smaller in TV market size based on 2021 data from Nielsen.
Memphis is the smallest market in the NBA (by TV market size) and yet, ranked in the top-10 in merchandise sales around the NBA.
That is a testament to the must-see nature of Ja Morant and this Grizzlies roster. Every game this team and this super-star athlete do something mind-boggling and jaw-dropping.
The Grizzlies are in the midst of a tenacious first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
