Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant exited Game 3 vs the Golden State Warriors with an apparent right knee injury in the final minutes of the 142-112 loss.

Memphis now trails Golden State in the series 2-1, with Game 4 set for May 9 at 9 PM CT on TNT.

Perhaps more importantly, the Memphis Grizzlies are waiting with bated breath to find out what the extent of Ja Morant’s injury might be.

Morant injured his knee when battling for a loose ball against Jordan Poole of the Golden State Warriors.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant injury caused by Jordan Poole in Game 3?

During post-game comments, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said he reviewed the tape and saw Jordan Poole grabbing and yanking Ja Morant’s knee during a loose ball sequence.

“He is being evaluated right now,” Jenkins said post-game of Morant’s injury status.

“He was going for a loose ball and Jordan Poole grabbed his knee and yanked it. I’m curious to see what happens with that,” Jenkins said.

The coach stopped short of saying if it was intentional or accidental. He did, however, say that he would talk with Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Zach Kleiman about bringing it to the attention to NBA officials.

As for Morant’s injury status, we won’t know the extent of it until he gets some imaging done.

Dr. Evan Jeffries, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, took to Twitter to analyze the Morant injury sequence.

Dr. Jeffries, based on what he was seeing on the replay, believes Morant has a possible knee sprain (MCL).

He notes that Poole initially bumps knees with Morant and then grabs and pulls the Grizzlies’ knee from the inside and pulls it outwardly.

Jordan Poole, in his post-game comments, called it “a basketball play.” Morant tweeted that Poole “broke the code.

You can see what Jenkins, Morant, and Dr. Jeffries are talking about in the video above. Despite excellent basketball being played, this entire series has been underscored by hard fouls, injuries, and dirty plays.
