No. 2: The Golden State Warriors took their lumps post-Game 5

Watching the Warriors take their lumps, eat their crow, face the music— whatever you want to call it— was blissful. One-by-one the Warriors came out to address the media after getting whooped by the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5.

Klay Thompson called the game “an unfortunate day at the office.” He added that it was “awful” and “embarrassing.”

Draymond Green put it bluntly: “We got our a** kicked. And that’s alright. It happens.”

Mike Brown, filling in as head coach while Steve Kerr is in Health & Safety Protocols, was a bit more complimentary of the Grizzlies.

“We have to understand that their length and athleticism is an advantage that they have,” Brown said.

Stephen Curry said he and the team have to have a “short memory,” and remember that, despite the loss, the Warriors are “still in control of the series.”

When asked about his pre-game comments that Golden State had a game plan to “whoop that trick.,” Curry was more lighthearted.

“You embrace all of that. It’s fun. Even when you get smacked, you gotta find some fun in it,” Curry said. “It’s gonna be really hard to close out [the Grizzlies] because they’re a really good team. If we needed any more reminder of that we got it today.”

No. 3: Memphis Grizzlies star Desmond Bane finally looked like himself

Desmond Bane, arguably the most valuable player for the Grizzlies during round one vs the Minnesota Timberwolves just hasn’t been himself in round two vs Golden State.

It seems like Bane is dealing with some injuries, evident by him nearly missing Game 2 vs the Warriors when he was a game-time decision.

He’s been seen with wear a wrap around his back and just hasn’t been moving like he normally does during games.

Bane returned to form in Game 5, his best outing of the entire series vs Golden State.

He scored 21 points in 24 minutes, shooting 6-12 (4-6 3PT). It was his highest scoring output since scoring 23 points in Game 6 vs the TImberwolves.
