Memphis Grizzlies get bench scoring and shooting via trade with Wizards

The Grizzlies could swing for a big deal and look to replenish a bench that will likely be losing Kyle Anderson, Tyus Jones, and Jarrett Culver.

The team might find a suitable trade partner in the Washington Wizards.

Memphis could look to create a package to pry Kyle Kuzma and/or Corey Kispert in a package featuring Dillon Brooks and picks.

Corey Kispert could fill a Mike Miller-type role for the Grizzlies if he continues to build on a decent rookie season that saw him average 8.2 PPG while shooting 45.5% from the field, 35% from 3PT, and 87.1% from the free-throw line. He’s 23 and is right in line with the ages of Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant, and Desmond Bane.

Ja Morant’s ability to drive and get defenders to commit to him will enable the sharp-shooting Kispert to get clean, open looks from deep.

Kuzma, on the other hand, would be a terrific fit for when the team needs flexibility in the post. His 6’9,” 221 lb frame allows him to play multiple positions and score from all three levels on the court.

He could play alongside Jackson or be the big man if the team needs to go small. He can hang out beyond the arc and shoot threes or drive to the paint.

You might even be able to start him, depending on who’s back with the team next season. You could see a lineup of Morant, Bane, Ziaire Williams, Kuzma and Jackson or Morant, Bane, Kuzma, Jackson, and Steven Adams.
