Memphis Grizzlies get Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon in blockbuster trade

A blockbuster trade that ultimately may be pie-in-the-sky, would be to double dip and create a package to fill two big needs: a big man that can grow with the core of Morant and Jackson, plus a young veteran point guard with starting experience.

The Memphis Grizzlies could get that if they strike a deal for Myles Turner and Malcolm Brogdon of the Indiana Pacers.

Myles Turner, despite an injury-plagued season, averaged 12.9 PPG, 7.1 RPG, and 2.8 BPG last season. Malcom Brogdon, in just 36 appearances last season, recorded 19.1 PPG, 5.9 APG, and 5.1 RPG.

The Grizzlies would have to part with multiple starters and multiple picks to get the deal done. But it would be well worth cashing their chips in to acquire two very good players.

Brogdon would be the perfect player to back-up Ja Morant on the Grizzlies. At 6’5″ he has a bit of size to him. He can score, he can distribute and he was the 2017 NBA Rookie of the Year.

Brogdon has suddenly become expendable with the arrival of Tyrese Halliburton and rookie Chris Duarte.

Turner, on the other hand, is an outstanding player that’s been plagued by some injuries. But, his size and athleticism at age 26 is too good to pass up if he’s attainable.

He can step out and shoot threes, he can block shots and rebound. He’s similar to Jackson in a lot of ways and that’s a really good thing.

Assuming Tyus Jones and Kyle Anderson leave in free agency and before any draft picks/free agents are added, you would be filling two massive needs.

But, some reports have been circulating that Turner is likely to stay in Indiana, so it would truly take an unbelievable offer to get the Pacers to change their mind on dealing the dynamic big man.
