Memphis Grizzlies: 5 takeaways, thoughts and questions about new draftees
Which rookie is most likely to play the most on the main roster?
It’s hard to gauge without seeing these guys in action in Summer League, but i would be LaRavia or Roddy would be the safest bets to be able to crack the regular-season rotation of this class of players Kleiman has drafted.
Chandler, despite having an outstnading skillset, still has some developing to do after just one year of experience Williams is widely seen as a project and will likely be spending some time in Southaven with the G-League team.
Unless something wild happens in summer league, expect Roddy and LaRavia to see some meaningful minutes next season just for the simple fact that they are seen as more “NBA ready.”
Memphis Grizzlies will be ok after trading De’Anthony Melton to the 76ers
Happy trails to De’Anthony Melton, a player who is extremely underrated. Melton got traded to Philadelphia on draft night and will join Joel Embiid and James Harden for a chance to compete for a deep run in the Eastern Conference playoffs next season.
We’ll miss Melton’s hustle, active hands, three=point shooting and he’s warm personality. He seemed like a great locker room guy and someone that can be a difference maker on just about any team in the league.
With his departure, finding relief minutes for Desmond Bane will be something Jenkins will have to figure out with various lineup experimentation. Maybe you put Ziaire as the backup two-guard. Maybe you look at playing Roddy or Chandler in the spot.
We’ve got plenty of time to figure out the two-guard depth chart. For now, we have a fun summer league slate to look forward to in the next few weeks.
