Jake LaRavia could fill the void left by Kyle Anderson for Memphis Grizzlies

Last year at Wake Forest, LaRavia averaged 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 56% from the field and 38% from three. He also contributed a very impressive 1.7 steals and 1 block per game. These stats certainly fit the mold of the type of player that the Grizzlies have shown they want to fill their roster with around Ja Morant.

While Kyle Anderson did everything else well, his one flaw was shooting the basketball. There were countless times when Ja Morant drove to the lane and dished the ball back out to the three-point line for a wide-open Anderson, who would either wind up his slow and unorthodox jumper, or would have to put the ball back on the floor in a now clogged lane.

One of the main reasons that Jake LaRavia has the potential to thrive in Memphis is the shooting potential that he brings to the table. Imagine those wide-open looks from beyond the arc being caught by a guy who shot 39.7% on catch-and-shoot attempts in college rather than Anderson, who shot 32.3% on catch-and-shoot threes. Much better, right?

While LaRavia only attempted 2.2 threes per game, his super smooth release translates for him to stay just as efficient with increased volume. He also thrived hitting threes from the corner, which should really get Grizzlies fans excited considering all of the open looks that Ja Morant and Tyus Jones create for their teammates.
