Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant may lend a helping hand to the Memphis Tigers in their recruitment of LeBron James Jr.— also known as “Bronny.”

Recently, a highlight of James Jr. has made its rounds on social media, showing a clip of the high school senior taking flight and punching home a right-handed dunk.

Some of the best players that the NBA has to offer gave their insights on the play on Twitter, including Morant.

How Grizzlies star Ja Morant could help Memphis Tigers land LeBron’s son

The Memphis Grizzlies point guard replied to a video of the dunk with an exhaling emoji. This response would have been a big moment for James Jr—Morant is one of his favorite players.

According to Cody Taylor from USA Today quoting a postgame interview from LeBron James about Morant, “I don’t know him personally so I can’t say how great of a kid he is or not but he seems like a really good one,” James said. “He seems like he loves the game. Both of my kids love him. They love his game”.

If Bronny James’s athleticism continues to develop and he continues to grow, he could begin to mold his game to look similar to Morant’s.

Interestingly, just a few days after Morant responded to the highlight of James Jr., the Memphis Tigers offered him a scholarship offer. They are one of many teams who are already after James Jr.

Some other colleges that have also offered him scholarships include Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC. Head coach Penny Hardaway and the Tiger will have an uphill battle in recruiting James Jr. to the team. The Tigers will be competing with the best of the best in college basketball to land James Jr., however, they may have an upper hand over other schools that have also offered him a scholarship.

That upper hand being their head coach, Penny Hardaway. Hardaway was an incredible point guard during his time in the NBA. However, he was never able to reach his full potential due to injuries riddling his career.

Despite this, he would still make for the perfect mentor and coach to mold James Jr.’s game and get him prepared to be an NBA point guard.

This will definitely be something that Bronny and his family keep in mind through the recruiting process; however, simply having Hardaway as the coach may still not be enough to land a recruit like James Jr.

As a result of this, Morant may decide to help the fellow Memphis basketball team out and do some recruiting of his own to bring James Jr. onto the Tigers.

Having Morant in the locker room across the hall of the FedEx Forum certainly doesn’t hurt the Memphis Tigers in their recruiting process.
