5 takeaways from Ja Morant’s insightful Pivot Podcast interview
Ja Morant has struggled to adjust to a life of fame
“You know, for the most part, it’s definitely been tough because I wasn’t used to it at all,” Morant said of his skyrocketing fame and celebrity.
The fame of being one of the biggest superstars in the NBA has forced Morant to adjust his lifestyle completely.
“[Fame] has made me pretty much a homebody. I just sit in the crib with the fam,” he said.
“We like going to do stuff as a family, being able to go out freely and I can’t do that now. I have to watch every move, I got to watch everything around me, watch what I post.”
Morant said he plays video games like Madden and Warzone with his friends in his downtime— something he can do while remaining anonymous if he chooses.
Ja Morant revealed his biggest remaining NBA goals
The young veteran is focused on bringing a championship to Memphis. It’s his top priority. He mentioned that before any personal accolades.
“Number one, win a championship. I feel like that’s the main goal for me, even though that’s a team goal. I feel like winning is the most important thing,” he said.
Getting into the personal accolades, he rattled off all the biggest awards the NBA has to offer, some of which he’s already accomplished: Finals MVP, MVP of the league, being an All-Star, Most Improved.
Perhaps most importantly, he listed his health and availability.
“As far as MVP in this league, most of them play pretty much 75 plus games out of the 82 and you know that’s MVP level. So, that’s definitely [a goal]— being available.
