5 players you won’t believe ESPN says are better than Desmond Bane
By Reed Chapman
No. 66 Myles Turner vs No. 68 Desmond Bane
Coming in two spots ahead of Desmond Bane at number 66 on ESPN’s list, was Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.
Don’t get me wrong, Myles Turner is a very good NBA player. He is a two-time block champion of the league, and averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks a game last season in the games he suited up for.
He also has the ability to stretch the floor at 6’11, as he shot a respectable 33.3% last season (4.4 attempts per game).
The main reason that he should not be over Desmond Bane however, is his availability problems.
Last season Myles Turner missed a total of 40 games due to a stress fracture in his foot. The year before that, he missed another 25 games due to multiple lower body injuries.
The fact of the matter is, a player who has missed 65 games over the past two years should not be ranked ahead of Bane. The Grizzlies guard has only missed 10 out of 154 total possible games in his career while also being as productive as he is on both sides of the court.
Yes, Myles Turner’s rim protection is elite when he is on the floor, but he has had his issues in the past when it comes to being a consistent rebounder at the center position, and if his shot is not on, then he does not do much for you offensively.
With all of this considered, it is safe to say that Desmond Bane clears Myles Turner when it comes to all-around production on a nightly basis and should be ranked ahead of him on this list.
