No. 60 Kyle Lowry vs No. 68 Desmond Bane

Former Memphis Grizzlies player Kyle Lowry ranked 60 on the list, eight spots ahead of Desmond Bane.

When comparing the seasons of Desmond Bane and Kyle Lowry in 2021-22, it is extremely tough to say that Lowry had a better year.

Kyle Lowry’s overall shape and conditioning was questioned by his own General Manager, Pat Riley, in a press conference once the Heat’s season came to a close, and for good reason.

The out-of-shape Lowry averaged 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game on .440/.377/.851 shooting splits.

He was not awful on the defensive side of the ball by any means, but wasn’t anything too spectacular either, especially when comparing how impactful of a defender that Desmond Bane was. Lowry struggled to keep up with quick and athletic guards at times when they were his assignment, but still kept his scrappy mentality to help soften those wounds.

The only aspect of Lowry and Bane’s respective games that you can definitively say is: Kyle Lowry is better than Desmond Bane at is his playmaking ability. This should be a given though, as Lowry is a point guard and Bane is a shooting guard.

Bane is one of the best three-point shooters in the league, but can score from the other two levels with extreme efficiency, as well. Kyle Lowry can score from all three levels of the court too, but definitely not as efficiently or effectively as Bane does.

Especially when considering that Lowry will turn 37 during the 2022-23 season and will be in his seventeenth year in the association while Bane is 24 and is going into his third, it is almost impossible to think that Kyle Lowry should be ranked higher than Desmond Bane on this list.
