Grizzlies Rumor: New logo looks too much like Paul McCartney album
A purported new secondary Memphis Grizzlies logo was spotted making the rounds on Twitter recently that shares some uncanny characteristics with that of a recent album from legendary musician Paul McCartney.
The leak, shared by user Conrad Burry on Twitter, shows a simple, yet modern and minimalistic-looking logo. There’s a sequence of three straight lines stacked close together in three separated patterns.
The first sequence shows the lines going vertical, representing an “M.” The second set looks just the same, except the lines are situated horizontally to form an “E.” The last set is identical to the first to form another “M” and creates a look that should resemble the letters “MEM.”
Rumored new Memphis Grizzlies logo copies Paul McCartney album cover?
The logo, if this is really what it looks like, may run into some trouble with former Beatles band member Paul McCartney, who released an album called “New,” in 2013.
His cover art looks like the exact same lettering and spacing as the one being passed around on Twitter. Except, McCartney’s appears to be more of a neon-type color instead of the navy, blue and yellow colors synonymous with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Another person, Jarred Rego, chimed in and mentioned the similarities to McCartney’s album cover.
Things got even funnier, with some calling the rumored new secondary logo similar to other logos and ordinary objects.
Someone mentioned that it looks like an air vent cover. Another saw similarities with the logo for a band named 311. Others that it just needed a little tweaking and it would be a solid edition to the team’s logos and color schemes.
Regardless if this is an actual logo the team will officially unveil, it won’t change anything about the team’s primary logo or retro logo.
What do you think of the new logo? Does it look too similar to that of Paul McCartney’s album? Does it look like an air vent cover? Stay tuned to find out if the team confirms whether or not the logo is indeed authentic.
