Steven Adams says his starting spot not guaranteed

Steven Adams, who’s always sharp and quick-witted, had some of the best one-liners throughout the entire Media Day.

Whether it was dropping plenty of s-words or an occasional f-bomb, Adams is not one to mince words when he gets in front of the media.

He half-jokingly had to correct a reporter when asked who he thought should be in consideration to start alongside him while Jaren Jackson Jr. is recovering from surgery.

“Am I starting,” Adams asked the reporter who originally posited the question. “I don’t even know if I’m starting, mate. Did Coach say this?”

The reporter answered him by saying the coach did not mention it.

“Oh well, then sh**. I wouldn’t assume it just yet, mate— I still got to earn my spot, you know what I mean?”

It was one of the funniest one-liners and on-brand for the New Zealand native who was benched by Jenkins during the first-round playoff series against Minnesota.

Dillon Brooks ready to do whatever Memphis Grizzlies need

Dillon Brooks, who’s entering a contract year appears to be as motivated as ever to get on the court and start creating some havoc.

“Guys know every single night when they see me, it’s going to be a really tough game for them. I’m going to use all six of my fouls,” Brooks said. “Everybody knows when they play the Memphis Grizzlies it’s going to be a dogfight and I got all my dogs with me.”

His comment was also very on-brand and shows that Brooks is ready to get back to doing what he does best: being a pesky defender and creating offense from his defense.

After a frustrating 2021-22 filled with injuries and poor playoff performances, Brooks is someone who many are pegging to get his mojo back in the upcoming season.

The former second-round pick is planning on being a more efficient scorer and even slide over to the four-spot if Jenkins wants to go with a smaller starting lineup.
