The Memphis Grizzlies are entering the start of their five-game preseason schedule, with the opening game scheduled for Oct. 1 at Milwaukee.

This young squad, with a current average age of 24.3 years of age, will need to soak up as much preseason competition as possible before the regular season begins in mid-October.

With so few games to play and so many unanswered questions about this team, I’ve compiled a few major storylines that fans will want to keep an eye on all the way up to the start of the regular season.

1. Can the Memphis Grizzlies get through the preseason with no injuries?

Obviously, no one controls whether or not they get injured, but it’s something that seems to happen during the course of the NBA preseason schedule. An injury to a key player this early in the season could be a very difficult thing for the team to overcome.

For starters, the bench is so inexperienced. Tyus Jones is the only non-starting player with more than three years of NBA experience. An injury to a starter, especially, would put the team in an incredibly difficult position with players who are unproven on the NBA court for the most part.

Additionally, the team already has two players starting the season on the injured list: Jaren Jackson Jr. and Danny Green. Getting through the preseason unscathed will be an important storyline to watch.
