The Memphis Grizzlies square off against the Miami Heat on Oct. 7 for the final home preseason game of the season at FedEx Forum.
The Grizzlies haven’t played a game since their Oct. 3 win against Orlando, while the Heat will be competing for the second night in a row and their third overall preseason game.
From the perspective of the Memphis Grizzlies, all eyes will be on what sort of rotation Head Coach Taylor Jenkins uses for this game. Will he start someone other than Santi Aladma to give them a fair shot at the starting job? Will David Roddy see any first-half action?
Let’s dive into what you need to know for the team’s third preseason game of the young season.

Memphis Grizzlies projected starting lineup vs Miami Heat on Oct. 7
It’s currently not known if Jenkins will use a lineup like he did for the first preseason game against Milwaukee or if he’ll use one similar to that of the second preseason game against Orlando. But, the expected starting lineup for the team is:
PG: Ja Morant
SG: Desmond Bane
SF: Dillon Brooks
PF: Santi Aldama
C: Steven Adams
Memphis Grizzlies vs Heat Oct. 7 predictions
The Grizzlies have had three full days of rest in between games while Miami played just last night against the Brooklyn Nets. Someone in the NBA scheduling department must not like the Heat, putting them in a back-to-back during the preseason, but that’s a discussion for another time.
Expect to see a lot of different looks from Jenkins as he tests out some different lineup combinations than what we’ve seen from the first two preseason games. We might see rookie Jake LaRavia start this game or second-year player Ziaire Williams.
The team should experiment with some small-ball lineups that may come in handy during the playoffs. They should also look to get their two-way players, Kenneth Lofton Jr., Vince Williams Jr., involved a little bit in case they need to step up and be part of the regular season rotation at some point.
Prediction: Memphis 114, Miami 109
